See the EPA Toxic Gas Truck in Port Arthur, Texas:

EPA Toxic Truck The EPA TAGA Truck has on-board or fixed laboratory analysis. This sampling and analysis ability in either real-time or by fixed laboratory further increases the versatility, scope, and quality assurance of the sampling and analysis plans. The unit is currently equipped with several gas chromatographs to aid in identification and confirmation of analysis and can be equipped with other instruments which may be available such as portable or field units for GC/MS or organic compounds or X-Ray Fluorescence for inorganic metals. The EPA truck arrives for a community meeting at St. John's Church in West-side neighborhood of Port Arthur, Texas. The church is one hub of community action around the serious pollution and public health crisis in this low income African American community.EPA truck at Church
 
 
Hilton Kelley Hilton Kelley of the local Community IN-power and Development Association (CIDA) of Port Arthur tells the media how through public pressure and the help of national groups the EPA agreed to investigate pollution in the community. The Refinery Reform Campaign, Lone Star Sierra Club, Public Citizen, the Environmental Integrity project and Louisiana chemist, Wilma Subra, a MacArthur fellow, assisted CIDA in their request.
 
 
Mr. Kelley and other Port Arthur residents toured the TAGA truck. The goal of getting the truck to monitor is to identify permanent real time toxics monitoring stations in the community so people know what they are breathing and can work to clean up pollution. Hilton on truck tour
 
It was a great day for the citizens of Port Arthur TX, we had a great turn out at the meeting and I think that more people are going to get involved. Thanks to all who had a hand in this effort to get this air sampling vehicle here in the town of Port Arthur TX.
